Featured violin soloist is Renton, Washington-native Quinton Morris.
A graduate of North Carolina School of the Arts, and the Boston
Conservatory, Mr. Morris is currently a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate
at the University of Texas at Austin. He has performed throughout the
U.S., Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and is the recipient of numerous
competition awards, including the Seattle Philharmonic Concerto Competition.

(http://www.theyoungeight.com/) an octet of African American string
players.

Mr. Morris said of this concert, "I have a high degree of respect and
honor for the work being done by Sankofa Theatre. I want to be a part
of creating new ways of learning about the Middle Passage and engaging
the community to be creative in expressing both the triumphs and the
tragedy of this era. Creating new legacies and introducing historical
figures like William Grant Still and Le Chavalier de Saint-Georges is
important."
