I'm not sure that I was - especially as the performance was given on my
sister's 16th birthday; I suspect I had somewhere else to be.

I was, however, in the audience for Horenstein's shattering Mahler 9 the
previous year and also the Bruckner 8 from 1970.  Both among the greatest
performances captured on record.  I feel privileged.
