Yes, I do see the point but with some reservation.  With CDs one loses
some of the enjoyable possibilities of dictionaries, collected works,
and the like; mainly the enjoyment of their content by browsing, randomly
jumping amongst the pages, without any specific search in mind.  Such
browsing is also an important part of learning.  (Throughout my academic
career I have encouraged students to go to the library, about once a
week, with no specific purpose; just to browsing amongst the books -
Alas, with diminishing success with the passing of years.) CDs do, of
course, have important functions, but they do not offer all that books
offer - just as CDs offer great music but not all that concerts offer.
