Speaking of basses.  A while ago, on WNET out of NYC, there was a program
about opera.  One segment showed how differently the tenors are treated
than the basses.  There was Pavarotti, arriving in a huge limo, beaming,
kissing beautiful women.  Then there was a shot of Samuel Ramey waiting
for a subway.  It was very funny.
