Vakhtang Jordania Conducts American Symphony Orchestra in Program
of New American Works and Russian Orchestral Masterpieces

Pianist Jeffrey Biegel performs New York Premieres of Restored Manuscript
Edition of Rhapsody in Blue And His Transcription of Balakirev's Islamey
for Piano and Orchestra

NEW YORK, NY (December 14, 2000)-- On Monday night January 8th, 2001 at
8:00 PM at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center, the celebrated conductor
Vakhtang Jordania will lead the American Symphony Orchestra in an evening
of premieres by American composers and Russian orchestral masterpieces.

Works on the program include Variations on The Wayfaring Stranger
(New York Premiere) by James Cohn; Peanuts Gallery for Piano and
Orchestra by Ellen Taaffe Zwilich; Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin
(New York Premiere-Manuscript Edition); Islamey by Balakirev (World
Premiere-transcription for piano and orchestra by Jeffrey Biegel),
and Modest Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition.

Tickets for this concert are $45, $30 and $18 and are available at the
