Dear list: Among my most favorite opera's is Samuel Barber's "Vanessa":
A wonderful gothic story, and some of the most beautiful aria's in American
Opera (IMO). And so I listen over and over to the only recording of this
opera that I know is available: Dimitri Mitropoulos conducting and Eleanor
Steber and Rosalind Elias in the lead roles. It is of course a stunning
performance BUT I believe this performance is now over 45 years old and I
would love to hear another interpretation ...... Do I hope in vain for
a new recording?
