I am not 100% convinced by RVW, hoever there are some terrific performances
on record.

Symphony #1. Haitink/LPO/Lott/Summers on EMI. Majestic almost
Brucknerian. An epic drama painted over a vast canvas. Truly outstanding.

Symphony #8. Barbirolli/Halle on EMI. A beautifully judged performance
with Shakespearean impishness, drama and insight. Magic. Very good sound
for the day.

Symphony #5. My favourite of the lot. Am torn between the Haitink
(fantastic string playing, again full of insight and a visionary quality)
and controversially the Bryden Thompson which shakes the music up a bit
but is marred by over bright sound.

Happy listening & a Happy New Year,
