I'd choose something from the Elizabethan age, some secular music -
something on the popular side rather than, say, Dowland's songs with
lute or works for a consort of viols. Dorian has some CDs with music from
that time, e.g., "Watkins Ale - Music of the English Renaissance" with the
Baltimore Consort [DOR 09142]; or else "Shakespeare's Music" [DOR 90017],
which is a compilation from about 10 various Dorian CDs. Both CDs contain
vocal and instrumental music.
