For me, this question is related quite a bit to price, as I'm on a budget.
For $5, I'll try most anything.  For $15, I'll try something that looks
promising.  (This is about where the "student rush" tickets for the
Pittsburgh Symphony fall.) But for $40-$50--as some of the chamber music
concerts in the area are--it's out of my budget.  Especially if I want
to take a date.
