If you are in the Boston area, You are cordially invited to our next
concert. The Mozart Society Orchestra was founded in 1984 under the
leadership of Charles Peltz (1984-1990). The MSO continued to grow with
subsequent music directors Eric Benjamin (1990-1991) and David Commanday
'76 (1991-1997), Robert Lehmann (1997-2001), and Iris Lan '99 (2001-2002).

MSO hosts the annual Freshman Concerto Competition, which began when
David Commanday created the competition in 1991 to recognize and highlight
the talent of promising young Harvard musicians. It is the only musical
competition at Harvard exclusively for first-years.

MSO is now entering its twentieth season. Consisting of students from
all classes, the orchestra strives to create a cooperative ensemble and
to make playing opportunities available to as many interested musicians
as possible. Rehearsals are Monday and Wednesday evenings, from 7-9:30.
If you are interested in playing with the MSO, please contact Joshua
Evans (jevans@fas).

Chris Younghjoon Kim is Mozart Society Orchestra's Resident Conductor

Orchestra's Music Director.

Directions: The MBTA Red Line Take the red line to Harvard. Exit onto
Massachusetts Avenue and head through Harvard Yard towards the Science
Center. Go into the Science Center and turn left at the information
desk (after the Greenhouse Cafe). When you exit the Science Center,
Paine Hall will be immediately to your right. HINT: The MBTA provides
inexpensive parking at its Alewife Station.

Coming from the MA Turnpike
Take the Cambridge/Brighton/Allston exit and follow the ramp signs to
Cambridge. After the bridge over the Charles River, turn left onto
Memorial Drive. At the second light turn right onto JFK Street. You
will go through a few sets of lights before coming to Harvard Square.
Continue through Harvard Square (past Out of Town News on your right),
but stay in the left lane. The road divides; bear left (the sign says
Massachusetts Avenue/Arlington). Then stay to the right and bear right
at the next divide in the road (there will be a traffic light with right
arrow). You are now on Massachusetts Avenue heading north. You can try
to park here; metered spaces are sometimes available. If not, turn right
onto Everett Street. Follow Everett Street to the end and take a right
onto Oxford Street. Find a place to park somewhere on Oxford Street and
walk up to Paine Hall.

Meters are in effect until 6pm, then they're free. All metered spaces are
free on Sundays.

Finding Paine Hall
From Oxford Street
As you walk up Oxford Street, the Peabody Museum is on your left. On
your right is a large grassy area. Turn right into the driveway at the
end of the grassy area. The Fanny Peabody Mason Music Building will be
ahead, slightly to your left. Walk around to the back of the building
to Paine Hall.

 From Massachusetts Avenue
Paine Hall is at the back of a small quadrangle behind both the Littauer
building and the small, white Gannett house directly opposite the Cambridge
Common.

 From the Science Center
You will find the Music Building if you walk directly through the Science
Center (the building with the rock fountain out in front). Come through the
front door and follow the hallway through the building to Paine Hall.

 From Sanders Theatre
Follow Oxford Street past Sanders Theatre. You will pass the Science
Center on your left. Take a left down the driveway at the end of the
Science Center building. This puts you in front of the Music Building.
Come through the front door and follow the hallway through the building
to Paine Hall.
