Philip Peters corrected me and mentioned that he has 145 recording of
Winterrise.

This reminds me these January, while visiting my parents in Tel - Aviv,
I heard on the radio what I considered to be an awful adaptation of
Winterreise, where a small (string?) ensemble replaced the piano.
Unfortunately, I don't remember more.  But IMHO there was really nothing
memorable there.  But I thought I mention it in case Peter is interested
and does not already own a recording of this unusual adaptation.

OTOH, I went to hear the Aviv Quartet playing the Schubert Quintet.
Before the concert, I was a bit worried that this young quartet's
interpretation will fall short of the more mature ones I have been
listening to.  To my happiness and relieve, they and the second Cellist,
Tami Waterman (the sister of the violist) played beautifully.  In
particular the second movement was played with all the serenity this
movement requires.  I also enjoyed their playing of Shostakovich's
Quartet number 11.

I concluded the trip reading, during the long flight home, Vikrahm Seth's
Book "An Equal Music".  The book is about a String Quartet and a failed
love affair.  At the core of the book, an all Schubert concert is played
in Vienna in which Quartetsatz, the trout Quintet and the String Quintet
are performed.  The book is a bit too long for my taste, but it reads very
easily and therefore I recommend it to every music lover which needs an
easy book for a long airplane trip.
