I felt that I had a fine listing of comparisons ranging from the traditional
type performances of Oistrakh to the period instrument recordings of
Huggett and Standage. If the review has been an overall survey instead
of a review of five specific discs, I would have included the Kremer.

Looked at another way, when I think I have sufficient comparables in
my library to do a review, I don't get into additional acquisitions.
Concerning the Mozart review, I did acquire the earlier Mutter recordings
on DG and EMI so I could compare them to her new renditions; I thought
that was important for the review. Acquiring the Kremer just didn't
have significance for the purposes of the review. I have heard much
praise for the Kremer/Harnoncourt and will likely purchase it at some
point. Also important is that I have to, like most folks, budget carefully
for comparison recordings. If I acquired every worthy comparison disc,
I wouldn't have any funds left to buy recordings to review.
