Don Satz confided:

Quite a few years ago, the presenter on the breakfast shift of the national
station that played CM in dot au instituted a Bach Before Breakfast Club,
the only rule being that no food passed your lips before you'd heard that
morning's Bach offering (caffeine fixes were permitted, or I'd never have
survived). The tradition continues to this day except it's now the first
item on the program - it might be a whole concerto or maybe just a
movement. I know some regard playing movements as anathema but some Bach
is better than none and it's a good way to start the day. Those who need
the whole B Minor Mass before they can face the world are, of course, free
to listen to it.
