MusicWeb(UK) www.musicweb.uk.net is considering running a 3-day weekend
musical event at Abingworth Hall, a beautifully located mansion equivalent
to a 4 star hotel in West Sussex, close to Storrington.  The event will be
entitled

**The Lives and Work of British Composers in Sussex **

We wish to discover if such an event would be viable so welcome any
indication of likely attendance.  The possible dates are November 9-11
2001, April 5-8 2002 or Oct 4-7 2002.  The cost would be around 400 for
full board including a coach trip (possible 10% reduction for couples)

The programme would include:-

Morning and evening illustrated presentations (with two afternoons free to
visit perhaps either Brighton or Worthing) plus Audio Visual Presentation
- "British Composers in Sussex" (Cyril Scott, Frank Bridge,Roger Quilter,
Cecil Armstrong Gibbs, Havergal Brian, Sir Hubert Parry, Gustav Holst, Sir
Edward Elgar, Sir Arnold Bax, Eric Coates and John Ireland.)

Videotape presentation on the "Life and works of Arnold Bax"

Optional visit (by individual cars) to Fittleworth including a short organ
recital including pieces by Elgar and John Ireland in Fittleworth Church
presented by Charles Macdonald, organist at Lancing College followed by a
visit to the 'Elgar Cottage' slightly north of Fittleworth.

Coach outing to places associated with British composers: Storrington;
Amberley; Chichester; Selsey; Eastergate;  Rustington; Ashington; Shipley;
