In the past few years the Minnesota Orchestra has performed three very
effective orchestral works by Aulis Sallinen, whose "euphoneous dissonance"
sounds to me like an intriguing approach to familiar tonal harmony. The
works were Symphony No. 6, Mauermusik and "Some Aspects of Peltoniemi
Hentrik's Funeral March." I've not heard any on disc but the post reminded
me that I should remedy that.
