Great idea!  I propose Sofia Gubaidulina's 'Passion and Resurrection after
St.  John' as one of those five.  The Passion was performed in 200, but
the Resurrection had its premiere in 2001, so it should qualify as 21st
century.  Whether it's significant well-constructed and original? Uhh, I
don't think I'm exactly an expert on such things, but let me put it like
this:  I prefer it over Britten's War Requiem.
