I am currently listening to the Brilliant Classics Vivaldi set that was
first mentioned a few weeks ago. In the past, I never cared for Vivaldi
very much. After listening to the third volume of this set, I am changing
my mind. The English Concert with Trevor Pinnock and Simon Standage (Vo1.
1 & 2) and Il gardino armonico(Vol. 3), for example, are nothing to sneeze
at: Great performances and great sound. I think the set is a great way to
become acquainted or requainted with the Red Priest.

On the back of the second volume of Violin Concerti, Op. 8, Stephen
Preston is listed as playing "traverso" or the "traverso," I'm not sure
which. I tried surfing for the term, but could not find anything. I would
appreciate it if a list member who knows the definition would post it to
the List. Also, I would like to know if anyone knows of a good dictionary
or glossary on the web.

Thanks, as always,

Ron Chaplin
