Local contemporary ensemble Brave New Works presents "The Number One" at
the Performance Network on Wednesday, April 3rd at 8:00 p.m.

Continuing its "Numbers Up" series by teaming up with the Performance
Network, Brave New Works presents "The Number One," a concert of solo
performances by BNW members Jennifer Goltz, soprano, Amy Ley, harp, Emily
Perryman, flute, Maria Sampen, violin, and Andrea Yun, cello. This concert
of contemporary classical music features works inspired by the wind and the
air, the mysteries of Greek mythology, Quinhai folk tunes, and a Polish
composer's love for the violin. Selections on the program include East
Wind by Shulamit Ran, Bright Sheng's Seven Tunes Heard in China, Sonata
per violino solo by Grazyna Bacewicz, The Crowne of Adriadne by R. Murray
Schafer and the World Premiere of Andrew Mead's Let the Air Circulate.

Founded in 1997 by Christopher Froh, Chris Younghoon Kim and Eli Shapiro,
Brave New Works is an Ann Arbor-based performing organization dedicated
to the work of composers across the entire aesthetic spectrum. With the
mission to foster new music through creation and performance by working
with and on behalf of contemporary composers, Brave New Works also seeks
to expand the audience for new music through performances, workshops and
collaborations with the arts.

The Performance Network is located at 120 East Huron in Ann Arbor.
Tickets $15 (students/seniors $10). Reservations strongly suggested.
