Is this tongue in cheek?  (Today, doesn't Oscar=death knell for the
serious composer?) I've read that earlier in the century crossover wasn't
such an issue.

Yes, Martinu is the man.  I look forward to exploring Arnold's symphonies.
I like performances that tend to be just to the right of indulgent.
