   ANNOUNCEMENT OF A FACULTY POSITION
   
   ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF WIND ENSEMBLES
   
   The Department of Music at Cornell University announces an
   opening at the rank of Lecturer, half-time, starting July 1,
   2007.  The appointment is an endowed, non-tenure-track position
   (with benefits) and will be for a term of one year, with renewal
   dependent upon performance.

   The Assistant Director will assist the Director in all aspects
   of the Wind Ensembles program at Cornell. Duties of the position
   include:
   
   - Assisting in administering and conducting the departmental
   wind groups, as needed (Wind Symphony, a large wind band with
   two rehearsals weekly, and Wind Ensemble, with two rehearsals
   weekly);

   - Acting as faculty music advisor to the Big Red Band (a
   non-departmental, student-run marching band with one rehearsal
   weekly during the fall semester only);

   - Assisting with the Chamber Winds program;

   - Helping with performance logistics at Senior Week and Commencement
   exercises in May.
   
   Qualifications: Demonstrated success in teaching, conducting,
   and administering bands and wind ensembles, as shown by experience
   and education. Strong performance skills are desirable.
