I have never heard of this before, In Bruckner's 8th the adagio before
the scherzo?? This was the first time Bruckner put the scherzo before the
adagio (also in his 9th like Beethoven's 9th) and rightly so following the
tensions of the 1st movement.

Another interesting discussion/argument re. the order of movements is of
course the scherzo and andante of Mahler's 6th. It would be interesting to
hear views on this point.
