The New York Virtuosi Chamber Symphony Presents "Five Masters - Music of
the American 20th Century" on November 4 At Merkin Concert Hall

New York, NY - The New York Virtuosi Chamber Symphony and its Music
Director Kenneth Klein will present "Five Masters - Music of the
American 20th Century", a special concert on Thursday, November 4, 2004
- 8:00 PM at Merkin Concert Hall at the Kaufman Center, Goodman House,
129 West 67th Street, New York.

Kenneth Klein and The Virtuosi will present a program of great American
orchestral music, including Arthur Foote's Suite in E, Aaron Copland's
Old American Songs, 2nd Set, with soprano Camellia Johnson, Samuel
Barber's Mediation and Dance of Vengeance from the ballet Medea, Aaron
Copland's Quiet City, George Gershwin's "Summertime" and "My Man's Gone
Now" From Porgy & Bess, also featuring soprano Camellia Johnson, and
Morton Gould's Spirituals.

Tickets for the November 4 concert are $30, $25, and $15 for students
and seniors.  Discounts are available for members of the Kaufman Center

New York Virtuosi Chamber Symphony concerts are assisted, in part, by
public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency,
and private contributions.

The New York Virtuosi Chamber Symphony presents world-class performances
of the chamber orchestra repertoire of the 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st
centuries.  The Virtuosi was founded in 1982 by its Music Director Kenneth
Klein.  This 35-piece ensemble, composed of New York's finest players,
has performed at all the major halls in New York City, throughout the
U.S. and Germany and been praised by both critics and audiences for its
innovative programming.  The group's current activities include an annual
series of concerts throughout the New York area and the presentation of
a Student Mentorship/In-school Performance and Instruction Program in 6

The American soprano Camellia Johnson has an extensive and distinguished
concert and oratorio repertoire.  She has appeared with many symphony
orchestras, including Atlanta, Baltimore, Cleveland, Detroit, New York,
Indianapolis, London, Philadelphia, St. Louis, and Montreal.  Her
operatic performances have taken her to the stages of the Metropolitan
Opera, San Francisco Opera, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Michigan Opera
