I am not picky about Bach performers. I love to hear how different artists
and different ages interpret Bach's music. Like anyone, I don't like to
hear the music butchered by someone who doesn't understand what they are
playing. Like a lot of people on this list, I have a large number of
copies of the Goldberg Variations, The Cantatas, Art of the Fugue, Well
Tempered Clavier, Violin Concertos, and so on. All are quite different.
I don't buy performances that I know to be imitative because there is no
sense in having too many copies that sound alike, unless they are
representative of a performer's work.

Like many people on the list, I cannot get enough of Bach. I am still
discovering new insights into Bach's music, something I cannot say for
Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi, and some others I have very tired of...

I am actually concerned about people who have limited themselves to one
performance. That helps their budget. But if we hope to have many choices
available, we have to increase our purchases. If sales keep falling, our
range of choices will decrease. Buy more Bach!
