Dear All, Virgin re-released the Norrington/London Classical Players
Beethoven at super bargain price. In some stores they cost below 2 per CD.

Norrington can be controversial and has his critics. I've heard that some
of the soloists in the 9th are not up to scratch. Also, that the #2 and #8
won Gramophone orchestral awards. However are these a real bargain?

It is fascinating to hear Beethoven on original instruments but I often
miss the spritual insights of, say, Furtwangler, Klemperer or Wand

Kind regards,

David Harbin
