I seem to recall the scherzo being placed before the adagio also:

1) in one quite unusual recording of his (Bruckner's) 7th symphony;
2) in one of the several editions of the 2nd symphony (as recorded on
Naxos.)

However, I may be mistaken on both counts!

Wellesz' 2nd symphony, a .very. Brucknerian (and, yes, tonal) work- in its
way, this selfsame month as this is being discussed.  Now if only someone
would record that.)
