Good to see that there is an upcoming recording with the magnificent
Cleveland Orchestra under Knussen of the Mussorsky Pictures at an
Exhibition (arr Stokowski). This team made a stunning Stravinsky Fairy's
Kiss so I'm expecting a lot. Let's hope DG keep the sound natural and
do not indulge in too much muti-miking!

I often wonder why the Cleveland plays better than the BPO or VPO but
does not get the recording contracts. Compare their Rite of Sping to
any Rite by these two other great bands. They are said to be the world's
best orchestra but do not seem to have a comparatively large fan base,
which is sad.

They have a recording on Chandos (BBC Phil) to beat plus an old early
1960s BBC recording on Music and Arts conducted by Stokowsi himself.
