Joaquin Nin-Culmell's "La Celestina," based on the Fernando de Rojas novel
(world's oldest?), was completed 15 years ago, and then scheduled for world
premiere in Barcelona where the Liceu inconveniently caught fire in 1994.

Now, after years of uncertainty for the 91-year-old composer if he can see
his opera performed at all, comes word of a tentative plan by Alterna Opera
to produce the work in Madrid in September (in the new Teatro Albeniz),
followed by performances of the same production in St. Petersburg, to be
conducted by Alexis Soriano. I am not familiar with the company and can't
find information on the Web.  Any leads?
