For me, nobody played the cello like Jacqueline du Pre.  Her heart was
always 110% in what she played, and she could make the music really come
from HER.  Yes she had some quirks that annoyed some people, but everyone
does to some extent.  I have compiled a discography and some other things

She recorded the Bach for the BBC when she was very young (it appears over

The only living cellist that I find plays in a way that moves me as Jackie
did is Truls Mork.  He has a great recording of the Britten.
