Perhaps we should let one of the "little darlings" have the last word on
this?

Under the heading <Fine opera this letter appeared in the Daily Telegraph
today.

   SIR
I was surprised at Mr Osborne's letter (Jan. 21). I was lucky enough
to see the final dress rehearsal of Gawain. It was my first visit
to the Royal Opera House and far from being "put off the art of opera
for life", I thought it was exciting and inspiring, with wonderful
effects and the music brought the whole story to life. I would
   happily see it again.
