An enthusiastic second to the words of praise for Douglas Lilburn's three
symphonies.  I don't know the Naxos, but admire the recording by Hopkins
with the NZSO.  More of Lilburn's fine music can be found on Koch 3-7260.
As for the New Zealand landscapes said to inspire the music: not many
of us have had the pleasure of seeing them---but surely nobody on the
planet can long resist seeing the Tolkien movie series shot there.
