You will see many people denigrate Stravinsky's own recordings -- it's
become fashionable to take that attitude and many egos become built up that
way.  However, it's not possible to evaluate the composer's works without
his own recordings.

As it happens, he has done all three with excellent recordings.  Perhaps
the 1960s recordings, very well recorded in stereo, are most acceptable.
However, don't be surprised if the 1940s recordings turn up on CBS/Sony.
The Symphony in C has already done so in a marvelous 2-disk set that also
includes Pulcinella, Fairy's Kiss, Histoire and the Octet.
