Glenn Miller wrote regarding the Rachmaninov Piano Concertos nos. 2 and 3:

My own favorite performance of the Rachmaninov 3rd piano concerto is by
Lazar Berman with Claudio Abbado and the London Symphony Orchestra [CBS MYK
37809]. Mr. Berman brings out nuances of the piece that in other recordings
are often rushed through or buried in the general musical complexity of the
piece. His technique is so extraordinary that his performance seems more
one of great insight and exquisitely delicate phrasing than of merely
rising to the great physical demands of the piece, which he also does with
ease.

I also very much like the performances of both the 2nd and 3rd piano
concertos by the young Van Cliburn (2nd with Fritz Reiner and the Chicago
Symphony orchestra, and 3rd with Kiril Kondrashin).
