The two NPR stations in the Bay Area, KQED and KALW generally don't play
classical music, occupied mostly with "talk" radio. Why San Francisco
needs TWO NPR stations that largely overlap their programs is a mystery.
Conversely, the NPR station from Sacramento, whose call letter I don't
know, is often an oasis as I travel through the great San Joaquin Valley.
Since there aren't any classical stations in the Valley, at least in the
North of it, this station has a permanent fixity on my car's tuner.
