A couple of months ago, I posted a question to The List regarding cello
works by Robert Volkmann, and related how his cello concerto, one of the
finest and most delightful works of this genre, had captivated cellist
Nancy Green. With a lot of assistance from incredibly helpful people both
on and off The List, we have obtained all the relevant scores, and Nancy is
working on them, hoping to record them soon.

Today, I am happy to announce a rare opportunity for those living in or
around Tucson: On April 3rd, at 7:30 pm, and April 6th (coincidentally,
Volkmann's birthday!), at 7 pm, Nancy Green and the Civic Orchestra of
Tucson under the direction of Dr. Herschel Kreloff will perform the
cello concerto, op. 33, in public. The venues will be Grace St. Paul's
Episcopal Church (2331 E Adams, a few blocks east of the UMC) on the 3rd
and Sun City Vistoso on the 6th. Other items on the program include
Bartok's Hungarian Sketches and Tchaikovsky's 2nd. Admission is free.

And even if you should not be able to take advantage of this opportunity,
take it as an encouragement that disseminating the word about your favorite
obscure romantic composer can sometimes bear fruits, even if, like me, you
should have no professional ties to music at all.
