Janos Gereben wrote about a "completion " of Schubert's Unfinished
Symphony which he found coleted Schubert's woek " not very well".

About seveny five or so years a record company (RCA ?) held a contest
to choose the best job of finishing that great work. The winner was
Kurt Atterberg. I have no idea whether or not his work was ever recorded..,
butg iven the sponsorship I assume that it was. I get the impression
that the entire enterprise was not embraced by the classical comunity
with great enthusiasm. However I have no first hand experience of this
since I was a babe in arms or even younger when these events took place.
