Albright festival press release

Brave New Works in conjunction with the school of music faculty and
students will present a tribute to William Albright.  The composer, William
Albright passed away last year on September 17, 1998.  It has been a
devastating loss for the musicians in Ann Arbor and American music.

Brave New Works will present a concert of his chamber music on October
23rd in the Britton Recital hall with the following program; Albright
by Carter Pann(Student of William Albright) and three pieces by William
Abright Shadows:  Eight Serenades for solo Guitar - Matthew Ardizzone,
guitar Abiding Passions for Woodwind Quintet Sonata for alto saxophone and
piano - Tim McAllister, Alto Sax & Kathryn Goodson, piano This concert will
be free to the public.  Donations to the William Albright Scholarship Fund
will be accepted at the door.

On Sunday, October 24, 1999, 7pm at the Kerrytown Concert House, the
School of Music and the Society of Composers, Inc.  will present a concert
of music written by Michigan composers in memory of William Albright
(1944-1998).  The event will be free.  Donations to the William Albright
Scholarship Fund will be accepted at the door.

Also other events with William Albright's music in October will be
"MICHIGAN COMPOSERS" concert which will be held during the 39th Conference
on Organ Music, Oct.  11, 8 P.M.  at Hill.  Music of Bill ALBRIGHT:  Halo
for organ and metal Instruments; TAKE THAT for percussion and SWEET
SIXTEENTHS FOR ORGAN.  Other composers will be Theodore Morris, william
Bolcom, Calvin Taylor (a Michigan graduates) and Larry Visser (also a MIch.
graduate.) There is no charge for this concert.
