Greetings all, I'm going to try and make this quick.  I'm currently
watching Anne-Sophie Mutter in a live simulcast with the NY Phil and my
thoughts started to wander with respect to composers: Why are there so few
female composers? Perhaps it's my ignorance.  If it is, please enlighten
me!!  I can think of many female performers, but very few composers (Amy
Beach, Clara Schumann....???).  I hope this is not a bias with respect to
commissions.  Prejudice within music, at least in this day and age, should
be unacceptable.  I look forward to your comments.
