I recently got a Naxos recording of Manuel de Falla's <El Amor Brujo>
but I got very upset when I played it. The mezzo-soprano in the Cancion
del amor dolido (Nandy Fabiola Herrera) was wonderful, but the orchestra
drowned her out so much that as soon as their entrance started she might
as well have gone out to have her mantilla dry cleaned.

Today, in an idle moment, I fooled around with my balance knob and
discovered much to my delight that Naxos had put things on separate sides,
or at least that's the way it sounds. I diddled with that knob till I got
the balance just right.

Give me a baton and call me a conductor.

The cd includes El Retablo de Maese Pedro, and it's super music for the
fan of Falla. You will recognize the Ritual Fire Dance even if you don't
think you know anything about these exciting works.

Naxos 8.553499 and I don't get a commission from Naxos (but I oughta.)
