Vaughan Williams wrote his Seventh Symphony "Sinfonia Antartica" basing
much of it on his music for the film "Scott of the Antarctic". I can't
recommend a recording as I've only heard it in performance on the radio.
My 1988 version of the Penguin Guide recommends two EMI publications by
the London Philharmonic - one directed by Bernhard Haitink and the other
by Sir Adrian Boult - as well as an RCA publication of the 7th and the 8th
by Andre Previn, this time with the London Symphony.
