Rather different, don't you think, simply following the composer's
directions on one hand, and on the other saying that one's own personal
interpretation of a work is the only one? Repeats are simply following the
road map laid out by the composer.  An interpretation includes too many
variables like tempo, articulation, relative dynamics, rubati, things which
everyone will agree are up to an individual performer.
