My two favorite Sallinen works are his Violin Concerto (somewhat atypical
of his work, stylistically) and, especially, his 4 Dream Songs.

The first is still available on CD; the second, on Finlandia #99403 may be
more difficult to obtain.  The latter comes with Hindemith's "Marienleben"
and is sung by the fabulous Karita Mattila.  Snap it up if you can get it!
