Interesting to see, a few years ago, the Transition from G & S to Mozart,
by Valerie Masterson. Princess Ida was once performed by an amateur group
in Kent (UK), where, since the excellent tenor had a stammer, his dialogue
was set to music, thus becoming recititive. It was very effective suprising
how problems disappear in usic. One of the friends I used to accompany
(played a wooden flute, lovely) had a dreadful speech impediment. But
played the flute fluently.(no pun intended:-).
