Some of the classic Schubert recordings of the Vienna Konzerthaus Quartet
have begun to be released on CD. Many good LP shops will have a copy of
the Quintet, as well as the G major Quartet. This group, which came out of
the Vienna Philharmonic, I believe, in the 1930's, played with a style that
probably cannot be taught. Both of these recordings are remarkable. After
listening to their performance of the Quintet, a friend who is on this list
remarked that he had been ruined for any other performance.
