Bear in mind the difference: the Naxos recording of the Bruckner Symphony
No. 9 includes the reconstructed complete Finale in the version by Nicola
Samale, Giuseppe Mazucca, John Phillips and Benjamin Gunnar Cohrs. By
any measure, this is a very fine performance indeed, with Johannes Wildner
leading the New Philharmonia Westphalen.

The BMG recording with Harnoncourt and the Vienna Philharmonic includes
only the Finale fragments, as Bruckner left them--not a completion--as
edited by John Phillips for the Complete Edition. Harnoncourt is also
the first recording of Ben Cohrs new critical edition of movmements 1 -
3. Harnoncourt also provides a spoken narration, selectable in either
German or English, to explain the various surviving segments of the
Finale torso.
