Some of this reminds me of the time that the program director of my former
community radio station (KOPN-FM) turned the microphones outside (via an
open window) and broadcast the sounds of the city for 20 minutes.  I must
admit that I liked it better when he turned the speakers to the street and
broadcast our signal to the passersby.  (And as an aside, it was always
interesting to announce classical music with the sounds of garbage trucks
doing their thing in the background.  A step beyond our infamous squeaky
chair.)
