I was just wondering why Mozart never wrote a work for a cello as soloist,
i.e. a sonata or concerto. Does anyone know the reason for this, or
might there be a lost masterpiece somewhere?

I know that Mozart allegedly disliked the flute, yet still wrote beautiful
music for it, so that can probably be ruled out as a reason. I just think
it would have been wonderful if we had a cello concerto or sonata by
him.
