Choral Music of Charles Griffin to be Performed at Lawrence University
in Appleton, Wisconsin on October 27

American composer Charles Griffin's The Moon of the Floating World for
a cappella women's voices will be performed on Saturday, October 27 - 8
PM in the Lawrence Memorial Chapel on the campus of Lawrence University
in Appleton, Wisconsin.  This concert will be part of the University's
Fall Festival.

This 'Dusk to Dawn' choir concert, conducted by Richard Bjella and
Phillip A.  Swan, will feature the Lawrence University Choirs performing
repertoire from the Renaissance to the contemporary, with performances
by the Concert Choir, Viking Chorale, and Cantala (women's choir) -

The Moon of the Floating World, for women's voices divisi into 8 parts,
a cappella, was composed in 2004 and is based on a text by Ihara Saikaku.
The work was premiered by the Latvian vocal ensemble Putni, Antra Drege,
Director, in Riga, Latvia, and taken on their American tour in Fall 2006.

Charles Griffin is an American composer currently living in Latvia. 
A native New Yorker, his works have been regularly commissioned,
performed and recorded by soloists and ensembles throughout the U.S. 
as well as Mexico, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Canada, Europe and Asia.  His
'Agnus Dei' was recently included on the program with which the Peninsula
Women's Chorus of Palo Alto, California captured Third Prize in the
Bela Bartok International Choir Competition in Debrecen, Hungary.
