Hector Aguilar quotes me,

>>I'm sure this is old news for most of you, but according to the latest
>>BBC Music Magazine, Tower has closed all its locations in the UK except
>>for the ones in Kensington and the flagship store at 1 Piccadilly Circus.

then asks:

>Has this announcement been preceded by a general shrinking of their
>classical inventory in the last two years?

I doubt there was an official announcement, but the classical section
in my local Tower has shrunk steadily over the past couple of years. It
is now the Classical/Jazz section. I'm glad that the Tower in downtown
Washington, D.C. has still not been downsized....yet.
