Concerning the greatest pianist around today, I really don't have an
opinion except that Argerich, Schiff, and Perahia don't register very
highly with me in the scheme of things.

The main reason for my posting is to share my enthusiasm for a
particular pianist from the early 20th century - Benno Moiseiwitsch.
The man is fantastic, and I've been snapping up his recorded legacy with
due haste.  I haven't found anyone who can match him in Schumann or Brahms,
and his performances of the works of other composers are among the most
illuminating on record.  His stature, confidence, articulation, and
note/chord spacing are marvels of human achievement.
