if you like Poulence you should listen to the Dialogue of the Carmelites--
very different I think that his earlier pieces which sort of reflect
Poulence as the boulavardier.  This opera shows a man of deep religiosity

ps-- the best recording IMHO is the original with Denise Duval on Angel/EMI
